40th Anniversary of Earth Day

Forty years ago this month, Earth Day was organized as a response to a growing environmental crisis. More than 20 million people took part in protests, teachins and rallies and, as a result of these actions, Congress passed the Clean Air Act, strengthened the Clean Water Act and created the Environmental Protection Agency.
