App of the week... Google Maps

Week of December 15 - Google Maps

Google Maps

 Google Play Store

Google Maps provides a great way to get around with a built in navigation feature as well as some added bonuses. Users can create a multi-stop route, check out upcoming events, save mobile maps for offline mode, as well as see Google recommendations of local attractions.

Make sure to check out the Google Maps Class at the Wellesley Free Library on Tuesday 12/17/13 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM in Jackie's Room. Make sure to register to reserve your seat!

The ease of manipulating Google maps has spawned any number of useful, imaginative adaptations. Take a look at WalkScore.com. You can find the "walkability" rating of your house (or any other house, of course). Walkability includes the proximity of a location to stores, parks, schools and other destinations as well as other pedestrian-friendly qualities. (My house scored 94. Yay!) So whether you're thinking about relocating or just curious, you'll have fun plugging in addresses at WalkScore.
